Maxx Crosby has found a new home within the AFC, trading in his Black and Silver for Black and Purple. Of course this trade has been the most interesting topic of the off-season so far, but will it be the most impactful?
Since joining the Raiders by way of Eastern Michigan, Crosby has imprinted his name among the top Defensive Players within the league in what seems like a short 7 year. 69.5 sacks over 110 games played along with 402 tackles (242 total)- although most of these stats came while the team was trailing, the star power is not to be denied.
So will he be a positive impact for the Ravens and turn around his losing career? I believe this is the missing piece for his career but I’m not so sure this changes anything for the Ravens. Crosby can finally get the shine during Prime Time games (Christmas/Thanksgiving) instead of being on the forbidden cable channels because no-one wants to watch the Raiders, but we know the recent history of the Ravens and it’s good regular season team that folds in the playoff.
If anything- this puts way more pressure on Lamar Jackson. Two time NFL MVP who repeatedly comes up short in the playoff and then the following year we hype the team up again just to come to the same result. Everyone expects the addition of Mad Maxx to bolster the defense (that already had multiple All-Pros and Pro-Bowlers) which means they can only go as far as Action Jackson can take them.
My guess for the season? Crosby stands out as more people can see his talent, Baltimore wins the division and then lose in the divisional round of the Playoffs.
